Lowe’s Virtual Kitchen Designer, Carol Lee, turned this families nightmare into their dream kitchen. When the Smith family’s kitchen flooded, and they were bombarded with the daunting task of remodeling their kitchen, Lee stepped in to walk them

through the process. She worked hand in hand with her clients week after week to help them finalize their dream kitchen layout and style. Her client picked the gorgeous allen + roth quartz in River Stone, and com plimented it with a navy island and dove grey surrounding cabinets. The final result left them speechless. Lee has been working at Lowe’s nearly 20 years, with her most recent endeavor designing kitchens. She land ed her dream job as a kitchen designer nearly three years ago in an effort to spend more time with her family. She loves the flexibility that virtual kitchen design has afforded her, and treasures the precious time she is able to spend with her family. She said she loves working with online clients because she enjoys being in tegrated in their daily lives, sometimes being able to say ‘hello’ to their spouse who may happen to walk in while they’re video chatting. Being able to have her clients show her the exact layout of their current kitch en, makes it easier for them to explain the things they would like to change about it! Seeing the kitchen through video chat, instead of her client having to explain it in store has proven to be extremely beneficial. With each project she has her clients send her inspiration photos from Pinterest, magazines, or even their friends homes in an effort to “get inside their head”. She wants the clients vision to shine through. “When I’m designing, I want to help the client bring their vision to life.” Lee explained.

This year she has loved seeing all of the blues and greens that have invaded the design scene, Her classic sense of style drives her love of granite, her favorite option being allen + roth Fantasy Brown. HOW ARE QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS MADE?

What is quartz? Quartz is a mineral composed of silicon and oxygen. It is one of nature’s hardest materials, rating 7 out of 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness. Mined quartz crystals are com bined with high-quality polyester resins and pigments producing a beautiful stone surface that is built to last a lifetime. How is quartz made? Quartz is a man-made, engineered surface. The slabs con tain approximately 93% quartz and 7% resins, polymers, and pigments. The raw materials are mixed and placed into a large mold to create unique patterns. By compression, a quartz slab is formed. From there, the slab is then dried, heated, and final touches are made to ensure the slab is a perfect choice for your home. Below are guidelines for the installation of your counter top project. You need to be aware of the following items for the installation of your new countertops to be per formed smoothly.

INSTALLATION CHECKLIST

Base Cabinets • Must be permanently and securely installed, including all cabinet hardware • Must be secure to the walls and/or floor • Must be level and plumb Sinks • If the sink is not purchased through the Lowe’s Coun tertop Program it must be on site at the time of • Installation • Apron or Farmhouse Sinks • Must be permanently and securely installed • Must be level and plumb Cooktops & Faucets • Cooktops and faucet sets must be on site Completion • Inspect the countertop installation and the installer’s workmanship to ensure your satisfaction • Sign the Agreement of Completion

Preparation • All items must be removed from atop the countertops prior to tear out and installation • Drape or cover areas to contain debris, as residual de bris from the installation process should be expected • Final wall preparations should not be completed prior to installation if at all possible • Make sure there is ample space in the driveway for the installer to set up a work area • Identify a preferred pathway to and from the outside work area for the installer to use • It is the customer’s responsibility to contact a licensed plumber or electrician if any electrical or plumbing work needs to be done • It is the customer’s responsibility to purchase and have installed any overhang supports after the coun tertop is installed Decision Maker • A decision maker of at least 18 years of age must be present for the entirety of the installation
