Waterfall Island
“The customer wanted a large kitchen island in a U shape, large enough to form a banquette that would fit a full-sized table to seat 6…” Pulkett said of the center island. This multi-purpose island serves as both a food preparation and gathering space. Finding clever ways to utilize spaces in unique ways was imperative for this kitchen renovation. This large space needed an anchor, and this incredible island serves as the perfect focal point. This impressive kitchen boasts a 48” gas range, and 60” fridge and freezer. Two dishwasherswithmatchingcabinet panels framed in themainsink.Thecabinet panels elevate the entire space. A double oven/microwave combo unit finished up the kitchen appliances. “The biggest challenge here, aside from sheer size of the kitchen, was that they wanted the look of inset cabinet doors, without actually having inset doors. I put end panels on the end of the cabinets that were ¾” deeper than the cabinet itself so that the front of the panel would be even with the fronts of the doors. This gave them and inset look without actually doing fully inset doors. The decorative legs helped achieve this effect on the island.” Pulkett said. Pulkett created a seamless and gorgeous design in a space that could have easily looked very disjointed. This complete and total kitchen transformation leaves us starstruck. This kitchen will be the perfect space for Pulkett’s clients to entertain in for decades to come.
TOWNHOME OVERHAUL
Lowe’s Virtual Kitchen Designer, Kaitlyn Pulkett, walked us through the most complex kitchen she has designed to date. She shares her incredible rendering of the space with us. Her client had purchased two town homes next door to each other and had plans to knock down the wall that separated the kitchens. This created a new, massive kitchen space. Pulkett helped her client choose Diamond Reflections cabinets in the door style Clarke. She juxtaposed the colors “White” and “Buckskin” to add an extra layer of intrigue. The warmth from these cabinets was paired exquisitely with allen + roth™ quartz countertops in the color Alluring. The marriage of sleek countertops and traditional cabinet colors creates kitchen design that will stand the test of time. They carried the clean white allen + roth quartz throughout the kitchen. Utilizing the quartz in applications other than the countertops was a great way to tie the whole kitchen together. The delicately veined white countertops pair perfectly with geometric backsplash. “The peninsula has a waterfall end, but we did island matching back panel and legs underneath the waterfall.” Pulkett said of the bar area shown to the left of the island. The trendy yet sophisticated waterfall edge creates the perfect amount of elegance in the kitchen. The next step was to tackle the enormous space to be used for an island.
