Setting Customer Expectations
Dark Colors 1. Dark colors require more maintenance and cleaning. Under everyday use, darker colors will show dirt, dust, rubs, fingerprints, scratches and watermarks easier than lighter color patterns. Please speak to a kitchen specialist for more information. Color Consistency 1. Quartz is made from pure, natural quartz. As a result, variation in quartz color, shape, pattern and size are unique traits to be expected of this product. Additionally, small blotches or random distribution of particulates are an inherent part of the overall design and composition, and not considered to be defects or product non conformity. The warranty does not cover color variance, and a quartz installation will not be replaced for these unique, inherent traits. Kitchen Cabinets 1. Kitchen cabinets must be plumb, level and secured to the walls and/or floor. c. All cabinetry and end panels must be completely and permanently installed (set and level) prior to the date countertops are scheduled to be field templated. Cabinets resting on top of the countertop (e.g. appliance garage, etc.) must be installed after the installation of the countertop. Adequate Support 1. The surface type and material thickness dictate the amount of overhang permitted on a countertop. The countertop can support an overhang of: a. The countertop must lie flat within 1/ 8 ” to eliminate stress on the corners, cut-outs and seams. b. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure cabinets are plumb, level and square. without additional brackets or corbels. However, at least 70% of the total countertop must be supported by cabinets, an island, knee wall, etc. All overhangs in excess of those previously mentioned will require corbels or brackets. All support brackets and corbels must be installed prior to the field template. New or existing cabinets must be structurally sound to withstand the weight of the countertop. Literature 1. Literature photography should be used for reference only, as printed representation will vary from the actual product. The customer should view an actual product sample prior to their final selection. When choosing a color or finish, please refer to samples only as a general indication of a particular color’s design pattern, aesthetics, hue and finish. Product samples are not guaranteed to be an exact replica of the customer’s countertop selection and may vary slightly from the actual installed product. • 6” (2cm quartz countertop) • 10” (3cm quartz countertop)

Quartz Countertop Seams 1. All quartz countertops will have visible seams. An acceptable seam will be smooth, but can be felt. Seam placement, and the exact number of seams, will be at the discretion of the CFI. The CFI can show you where the seams will be located on your countertop. The exact number of seams is dependent on your countertop layout. All requests for fewer to no seams will also be at the discretion of the CFI. Please note, requesting fewer to no seams will increase your square foot cost. Quartz Surface Material Thickness 1. Quartz surface comes in stone slabs that vary in thickness. Each slab is fabricated into a variety of design applications. quartz surface countertops are available in 2cm (approx. ¾”) and 3cm (approx. 1 1/ 8 ”) thickness. Please check for size availability in your market. 4cm Edge Lamination Lines 1. Quartz surface countertops are available in two thicknesses: 2cm (approx. ¾”) and 3cm (approx. 1 1/ 8 ”). If a 4cm edge is selected by the customer (combining two pieces of 2cm material to create a thicker edge – 4cm or 1 ½”), a lamination line will be visible where the two pieces are formed together. Random/Subtle Veining 1. Some of our more vibrant colors offered in the quartz color palette, including Angel Ash, Cosmic Vapor, Blushing Ivory, Alluring, Billow, Effervesce, Peaceful and are designed to have random and subtle veining patterns. These colors allow customers, who desire the look of marble, to have a beautiful and durable quartz alternative. 2. Although the pattern variation in both shape and size are not typically uniform, occasionally they appear directional. As a result, the CFI will design a “lay-out” plan that is best for your countertop installation, and the associated veining pattern. Please understand, due to the flow of veining in the quartz slabs, it is likely the seams will be more conspicuous versus other colors without veining. All requests for fewer seams will be at the discretion of the CFI. Please note, requesting fewer to no seams will increase your square foot cost. 3. All quartz slabs are a product of nature and variances in color, pattern, veining and shade are common and normal. As a result, the performance of your countertop will not be affected by these variations and your countertop will not be replaced due to them.

Setting Customer Expectations
Customer Countertop Tear Out/Installation
1. Incidental Damage – Final wall preparations (e.g. painting, wall papering, etc.) should not be completed prior to installation, if at all possible. Care will be exercised during the countertop installation however, scrapes, punctures or digs to wall surfaces are possible, as are scratches and scrapes to cabinetry. These items are considered incidental damages and are the customer’s responsibility to repair. In most instances, cabinets can be easily repaired with a cabinet touch-up kit. 2. During the installation process, it’s possible the CFI will make a number of entries from their outside work area to the kitchen. As a result, please communicate a pathway you want the CFI to use. Please note, the pathway should be of sufficient size since they will be carrying large countertop pieces and cannot carry these items through tight areas. 3. Installation of a countertop is a construction process and residual dust should be expected. The customer may want to drape, or cover, areas to help contain the dust to the construction area. The job site will be left in broom-clean condition. 4. Please contact, or a licensed electrician or plumber, should you need any electrical or plumbing work done. 5. Prior to tear out/installation, please remove all items on top of the countertops, and all items in the lower portion of countertop cabinets. The CFI may also ask the customer to remove any additional items that may impede tear out and/or installation. 6. The customer should discuss the use of sinks and appliances with the CFI after installation. Typically, the customer can plan on being without the use of sinks and appliances for two days. 7. The installation of countertops may require “field work” (trimming the countertops) to ensure the best possible fit. This procedure is usually performed in a driveway or other designated area, provided there isn’t any inclement weather. As a result of any inclement weather, and in the event the customer doesn’t have a covered outside work area, the CFI may have to reschedule the installation.

Quartz Surface Countertop Care and Maintenance
Routine Cleaning
1. Quartz surface countertops are easy to maintain. It is nonporous and does not harbor bacteria. It locks out liquids, bacteria, mold and mildew, keeping it from penetrating the countertop surface. It is highly resistant to stain, scratches and heat. However, it is not stain, scratch or heat proof. By following the recommended care and maintenance, it will help ensure your quartz surface remains beautiful for many years. 2. Simply clean with soap and water on a regular basis to keep the lustrous gloss and radiant sheen. Use warm water and a damp cloth, with a small amount of non-abrasive cleaner that does not contain bleach. 3. Although quartz is resistant to stains, spills should be cleaned as soon as possible. Liquid spills and stains from fruits, vegetables or other items should be wiped up and cleaned with soap and water. 4. The following disinfectants are approved to use on an quartz countertop. • MonoFoil ™ D Multi-Surface Disinfectant. Reports to kill 99.9% of bacteria when used as directed. • Weiman ® Granite & Stone Daily Clean & Shine. Reports to kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria when used as directed. 1. Heat – Quartz is designed to be resistant to heat, and can withstand exposure to normal cooking environments for brief periods of time without being damaged. Although quartz withstands heat better than most surfacing materials on the market, all surfacing materials, including stone, can be damaged by extreme temperature changes, whether prolonged or sudden. Please use trivets and hot pads when placing hot skillets, pans, crockpots or other heat generating kitchenware on the surface. 2. Scratches – Although quartz is resistant to scratches, cuts and chipping, cutting directly on the quartz surface should be avoided. Use cutting boards and take care not to drop or move heavy objects on the surface to ensure long-lasting beauty. 3. Chemical – Avoid exposing quartz to any strong chemicals and solvents. It is important to note that some of these chemicals and solvents can be found in household items, like paint removers, paint and stain strippers that contain trichlorethane or methylene chloride, nail polish removers, bleach, furniture cleaners, oil soaps, permanent markers or inks and chemicals with high alkaline/pH levels (oven cleaners, drain openers, etc.). Avoid using cleaning products that contain oils, powders or abrasives. Preventing Damages

Sink Care and Maintenance 1. Sage, through the program, proudly offers 16 and 18 gauge stainless steel sinks, quartz, and farmhouse/apron front sink options.
Stainless Steel Sink General Care and Cleaning 1. stainless steel sinks are extremely durable, rust-free, and most importantly hygienic. 2. After each use, rinse thoroughly. To minimize mineral deposits or water spotting, wipe the sink dry with a clean, soft cloth. 3. Avoid any abrasive cleaners, such as steel wool or scrub pads, as this will dull the finish. 4. Avoid having household cleaning agents, such as bleach, sit in the sink, as this may damage the finish. 5. Stainless steel does not rust; however, use of appropriate stainless steel sink cleaning agents is recommended for removing various surface residues. 6. Scratches are normal in any sink material. With regards to stainless steel, most minor scratches can be softened with Soft Scrub ® , a Scotch Brite ® pad and deep cleaning agents, such as Comet ™ . Rub across the entire surface and rinse thoroughly. Additional Cleaning 1. Different contaminants, such as dirt, dust and soil, will vary greatly in the effect, appearance, corrosive probability and ease of removal. While some may be easily removed, others may require specific cleaners for effective removal. Warm water with, or without, a gentle detergent is generally sufficient. Next in line are mild, non scratching abrasive powders, such as typical household cleaners including: Bar Keepers Friend ® , Flitz ® , Gordon’s Miracle Shine ® and Shiny Sinks Plus ® . All of these products are available at most grocery and hardware stores, and it is recommended to follow the cleaning instructions on the product. 2. Do not use abrasive cleaners to clean your stainless steel sink. Items such as steel brushes, steel wool and scrub pads will tarnish the finish and make the sink look dull. These items should be avoided, as they may leave particles imbedded on the surface which can lead to rusting. 3. Do not let household cleaning products, such as bleach, sit in your sink for a long period of time, as it will damage the finish of your sink.

Sink Care and Maintenance (Continued)
Scratches 1. For minor scratches, combining a wet Scotch Brite ® pad with a cleansing agent, such as Flitz ® , will soften the appearance of scratches and disparities. Please rub the agent with the “grain” of the existing finish and continue to rub across the sink’s entire surface. Rubbing against the grain, or in one spot, will produce poor results. Once the rubbing process is completed, the sink should be rinsed with clean water and towel dried. Surface Stains and Rust 1. Surface residue, such as hard water stains, tarnish, rust and lime deposits, should be treated with any of the following cleaning products: a. Bar Keepers Friend ® b. Gordon’s Miracle Shine ® c. Flitz ® Please follow each cleaning agents directions. Once clean, wipe off any excess water with a clean, dry towel. Quartz Sink Care and Maintenance 1. Clean it regularly with a mild detergent, and deep-clean as necessary with a nylon brush and a cleaner like Bar Keeper’s Friend. Fireclay Sink Care and Maintenance The cleaning and care of a fireclay farmhouse sink isn’t much different than other sinks. Fireclay is stain resistant and rust proof (because it doesn’t contain metal like an enameled cast iron sink), so food items that are typically aggressive stainers can simply be wiped away. Here are a few tips for the ongoing cleaning and care of your fireclay sink:
1. Clean the sink on a regular basis with mild cleaners and a soft cloth 2. Dry your sink with a soft cloth to prevent water spotting 3. Scrape off heavier gunk with a plastic spatula or scrub it off with a Breeze scrubber 4. Use baking soda (or a mild abrasive cleaner) to clean off crusted on gunk 5. You can even apply a wax to the sink, about once a month, to help with liquid flow

Quartz Surface FAQs
Q. What is quartz? A. Quartz is a stone surface made from pure, natural quartz and offers all the natural beauty of quartz, with up to six times the strength and durability of granite. Mined quartz crystals, one of nature’s hardest materials, are combined with high-quality polyester resins and pigments producing a natural stone, without the high-maintenance, while making it resistant to heat, scratches and stains. Q. What is natural quartz? A. Quartz is one of the hardest components of natural granite. Quartz rates 7 out of 10 on Mohs Scale of Hardness. The only materials harder are diamonds, sapphires and topaz. The quartz crystals are used to create a beautiful and strong surface, that is highly scratch and impact resistant. Q. What are the advantages of quartz surface countertops? A. A high-performing surface, quartz is nonporous preventing unwelcome germs, bacteria and mildew. It does not require sealing, conditioning or polishing. quartz is also scratch and stain resistant, unlike alternative surface options, such as granite, tile and marble. Q. What quartz surface products are available? A. Quartz comes in stone slabs that vary in thickness. Each slab is fabricated into a variety of design applications. Quartz is available in 2cm (¾”) and 3cm (1 1/ 8 ”) thickness. Please check for availability in your market. Q. How do I care for my quartz surface countertop? A. Simply clean up any spills with soap and water. For routine cleaning, use a small amount of cleaner that is non-bleach and non-abrasive, along with warm water and a clean, damp cloth. Repeat as needed to keep the lustrous gloss and radiant sheen. Although quartz is resistant to stains, any type of spill should be cleaned as soon as possible. Any liquid spills, fruits, vegetables or other items should be wiped up and cleaned with soap and water. Q. How should I disinfect my quartz countertop? A. Q. Is quartz scratch resistant? A. Because quartz contains natural quartz crystals, the hardest components of natural granite, the surface is highly scratch and impact resistant. However, as with any surface, sudden impact, excessive force/pressure or misuse can damage the stone surface. Q. Can you cut directly on the quartz surface countertop? A. Although quartz is made of natural quartz crystals that are up to six times harder than granite, it is always recommended to use a cutting board to prevent any dulling of the surface. Q. Can hot plates and pans be placed directly on the quartz surface countertop? A. While quartz can withstand heat, we still recommend the use of hot pads, or trivets, when using cooking units such as electric frying pans, crock-pots or roaster ovens. Prolonged exposure to heat will damage your quartz surface countertop, and such damage is not covered by warranty.

Quartz Surface FAQs
Q. Is quartz color consistent? A. Quartz is made from pure, natural quartz. Variation in quartz color, shape, pattern and size are unique traits of quartz surface countertops. Color variance is an inherent trait expected of quartz. In addition, small blotches, or random distribution of particulates, are an inherent part of the overall design and composition, and are not considered to be defects or product non-conformity. The Warranty does not cover color variance, and the quartz surface countertop will not be replaced for these unique, inherent traits. Q. Will my quartz surface countertop have seams? A. Quartz is not a seamless product; seams are generally visible. Inspection for color coordination across seams and multiple pieces is strongly recommended. The exact number of seams in a countertop will depend on the shape of the countertop and whether or not you specifically request fewer or no seams. Seam placement is at the discretion of the CFI. Please note that requests for fewer, or no, seams will increase the square footage units that must be purchased, thereby increasing the price. Our quartz CFI installer can show you where seams will be placed on your countertop. Q. Will the small sample piece I have match my countertop once it’s installed? A. Variance in color, shade and pattern is an inherent trait expected of the quartz product. Samples of quartz are often shown in 4” x 4” sample sizes. These samples are cut from large quartz slabs and only represent a limited portion of the actual stone. Please refer to samples only as a general indication of a particular color’s design pattern, aesthetics and hue. Samples are not guaranteed to be an exact replica of quartz slabs, and may vary from the actual, installed product. Q. Will dark colors require more maintenance? A. All dark colors of any quartz material require more maintenance. Under ordinary use, darker colors will show dirt, dust, rubs, fingerprints and watermarks more so than lighter color patterns. Naturally, these colors require more care to maintain their appearance. Q. Will quartz surface countertops have lamination lines? A. If you select a 4cm (1½”) edge, then lamination lines will be visible. A lamination line is created when two pieces of quartz are seamed together to create a 1½” front edge.
